MONSON CEMETERY COMMISSION
FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 2, 2005
The regular meeting of the Monson Cemetery Commissioners convened at 8:30 a.m. in the office at 32 Wilbraham Road. In attendance were Julian E. Szarlan, Robert E. Pease, Paul B. Lovell, John R. Nothe and Gaylin G. Bingle. Albert T. Wilcox did not attend this meeting.
OLD BUSINESS:
There wasn’t any old business at this time.
NEW BUSINESS:
1. Hiring – Mr. Szarlan said he met with Ms. Neggers on Wednesday, August 31, 2005 at 9:00 a.m. regarding the vacancy which will be created with the resignation of John Nothe on September 23, 2005. Paul said the position would have to go out to bid with union members in town. Mr. Szarlan explained a laborer could be hired instead of an Assistant Superintendent by changing the duties. By doing this, it would allow a six-month trial period. Mr. Pease made a motion to replace the Assistant Superintendent’s position with a Laborer’s position. Mr. Szarlan seconded the motion. Mr. Szarlan, Mr. Pease and Mr. Wilcox will meet to discuss the
duties of a laborer.
2. Tree in Hillside – A large tree in Hillside needs to be removed. DG’s Tree Service gave Paul a price of $850.00 to take this tree down and to stump it. Blue Ox gave Paul a price of over $1,000.00. The tree is split and one side is hollow, making it very dangerous to climb. Mr. Pease made a motion to have DG’s Tree Service take down the tree in Hillside. Mr. Szarlan seconded the motion.
At 9:35 a.m. Mr. Pease made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Mr. Szarlan seconded the motion.
Respectfully Submitted,
Gaylin Bingle
